Caleb bond down the pavement, his sister hot on his trail.
Caleb! Sonia exclaimed. Slow down!
Cant! Too excited! Caleb hollered back.
At that precise moment, Caleb came crashing into someone. The two tumbled downward and rolled a bit before slamming into a fence.
Caleb groaned and shook his head. Staggering to his feet, he murmured, Sorry.
Ohh . . . Its okay. Ive gotten used to that, a voice replied. Caleb looked up and suddenly, he blushed. Before him stood a pink haired, with sparkling blue eyes and a dazzling smile. At least to him it was.
Howdy, the girl said, waving her hand.
Hi, Caleb said, a little too quickly. He blushed madly, and pulled himself to his feet.
Im Cassidy Belpois, Cassidy said, holding out her hand.
Caleb Stern, Caleb said, hesitantly shaking her hand.
And that was when Sonia d decided to show up.
Cassidy smiled up at Sonia and held up her hand to her. Hi, Im Cassidy Belpois. Whats your name?
Sonia Stern, Sonia mumbled in her soft voice, not bothering to shake Cassidys hand. Cassidy nodded in turn and lowered her extended hand, taking the hint. Turning to Caleb, she said, Well, Caleb, Ill be seeing you and your sis later.
Caleb nodded, too baffled to say anything.
Sonia nudged him a bit. Hey, you okay?
Caleb nodded again. Yeah, yeah. Im okay. Just dandy.

A dark fog crept through the lab, sending electrical currents through the cables.
Off away, a blond haired man with glasses was staring at his computer screen, typing away when a box popped up. In the box was a detailed image of a tall tower, glowing bright red.
The mans eyes nearly popped out of his head. He jumped out of his seat and hollered, Aelita!

Andrew slowly ascended up the stairs. Head bowed and wearing a facial expression that said, I hate my life, he dragged his feet up.
Suddenly, a rush of wind blasted past him, and he looked up to see a white haired girl standing at the top of the stairway, a smug look on her pale face.
Sup? the girl smirked, sneering down at Andrew.
Andrew snorted ruefully. Whatever. He continued his slow climb to the top, but not before smirking slightly at Angel and walking past her without a word.
Angel sniffed and harrumphed. Jerk.

The fog descended down the bridge, electric currents spiraling out of it.
Once crossed the bridge, the fog zipped through the manhole, gaping and yawning as it consumed the dead cloud.

Cassidy bounced on the balls of her feet, humming a little tune to herself.
Brian nudged his sister and whispered, I think weve got a problem.
Cassidy turned and looked at him. What makes you say that?
Before Brian could begin, the lights switched off.
Brian pointed at the lights. Thats what made me say that.

The fog sluggishly moved through the pipelines, turning this way and that way as it continued its long trek to wherever it was heading.

Sonia looked around the classroom. It was deadly quiet, students murmuring to each other, trying to figure out how the power went out.
Angel shifted back and forth in her seat, glancing here and now at the window. Was it her, or did something just not feel right?
